Read the labels before the numbers
Check the title, the axis labels, and the units. Many wrong answers come from missing that a chart is in thousands.
Compare, do not just read
Questions often ask for a difference, a total, or a trend, so you will pull two or more values and combine them.
Worked examples
A table shows Mon 120, Tue 95, Wed 140 riders. How many more riders on Wednesday than Tuesday?
- Find both values: 140 and 95.
- Subtract: 140 − 95 = 45.
